Mixing Only and Mastering Only
If you’d like to take advantage of Stuart’s mixing or mastering skills for a project you’ve already recorded or mixed, you’ll find the prices at Frettless Studios quite competitive.
However keep in mind that a big part of anything you hear on the radio or Spotify comes down to how the sound was captured (actual sound quality), and the care taken by the engineer or producer to make sure the performance captured represents the artist at their best.
The person you put your trust in to capture you at your best is important, but so is the person mixing and mastering. You could think of the end result as a combination of four aspects:
1. The actual performance captured (this relies on the musician’s ability and the experience of the engineer)
2. The sound quality (this requires knowledge of ideal mic placement, and gain staging)
3. The arrangement of the song (meaning both how it is laid out in terms of verse, chorus bridge etc. and how the different instruments fit into the audio spectrum)
4. The mixing and mastering standard (mastering is very important however mixing is more crucial because you have far more control over the individual elements in mixing)
